Further Information About KNIGHT Thomas
Thomas Knight was born on 8th December 1878, the son of William Knight of Badsey Mill. He attended Badsey Council School from 30th January 1890 until 22nd May 1892. He was readmitted to the school on 7th January 1895. On leaving school he became a gardener.
Various entries in the Badsey parish magazine record Thomas Knight as being wounded (May 1918), in hospital suffering from influenza and an injured ankle (June 1918), and discharged from hospital (July 1918). Information in the December 1918 parish magazine states that his mother received two letters from France, the first one on November 9th stating that he was in hospital suffering from severe gas poisoning and the second one that he had died and would be buried in the British cemetery at Etaples. A memorial service was held at Badsey on 19th November.
