Further Information About KNIGHT Charles William

Charles William Knight was born at Coalville, Leicestershire in 1895, the son of George Henry and Ada Knight, 8, Windsor Road, Evesham. Prior to enlisting he was employed as a butcher.

On 21st November 1916, Private Charles Knight along with two others was captured by German soldiers while on patrol duty at Le Sars, France. All three were apparently wounded. His home address on prisoner of war records is given as 3 Church Street, Bengeworth, Evesham, Worcestershire. Charles remained a prisoner of war until 7th May 1918 when he was repatriated to England from Minden Hospital having been taken ill whilst working for the Germans on 6th March 1918.

The death of Charles W. Knight aged 23 is registered in the December Quarter 1918 under the Evesham Registration District.
