Edward Jones was born in Alfrick, Worcestershire. He enlisted for the duration of the war as a Driver in the Royal Field Artillery on 8th December 1915 at Worcester, Service No 130430. Edward lived at Limebrook House, Alfrick near Worcester, he gave his age as 29 years and 10 months and his occupation as a Labourer. He was 5 feet 6½ inches tall and gave his next of kin as his father, William Jones, Alfrick, Worcester. Edward was discharged from the army on 6th February 1919 having seen action in France and Italy.
