Information in All Saints Church, Wilden states that George was killed in action in Greece, aged 31, buried in Doiran Military Cemetery, Greece.
As part of the Battle of Doiran, the 11th Worcesters were ordered to attack ridge “O6”. They captured the front line at the foot of the ridge, but were unable to press on. After holding the position for over four hours, it had to be abandoned. The action cost 110 officers and men killed or missing.
