Charles Inch attended Worcester Royal Grammar School from 1927 to 1930. He lived with his cousin, Miss H.W. Smith at Otherton Farm, Cotheridge and from 1931 he worked in the Worcester Office of the Caledonian Insurance Company. He was a keen sportsman who was especially fond of rugby, playing for the school and later for the Worcestershire and Herefordshire XV.
