Thomas Hunt first entered a theatre of war some time after 1st January 1916. He was killed in action in the Battle of the Somme, during the attack on Ginchy by the Guards Division as part of the Flers-Courcelette engagement which saw the first use of tanks. He was awarded a British War Medal and a Victory Medal.
