Further Information About HINGLEY Seth Thomas

Seth Hingley enlisted as Private 16353 Gloucestershire Regiment on the 15th December 1914 at Birmingham. On his attestation paper he gave his age as 19 years 2 months, his address as Haley Green, Stourbridge and his occupation as a Collier. Two months later on 10th February 1915 he was discharged from the regiment at Weston Super Mare €˜in consequence of not being likely to become and efficient soldier. At the time of his discharge he was 19 years of age, 5 feet 4½ inches tall with a fresh complexion, blue eyes and fair hair. At some point Seth Hingley re-enlisted with the Worcestershire Regiment and served overseas after January 1916. His medal index card records his surname as Hinchley; he was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.
