Further Information About HINGLEY Dennis
Dennis Hingley was the son of William and Alice Hingley of Pedmore and was educated at King Edward’s School from 1936 to 1941. He was a member of St. Peter’s, Pedmore, and a keen Scout. He enlisted in the Royal Navy and in 1944 was posted to HM Motor Torpedo Boat 732. This vessel was accompanying an Atlantic convoy when it was torpedoed by a new German device on 28th May 1944. A special memorial was erected to him in the chancel of Pedmore church by his €œcompanions of the Pedmore Home Guard”.
Dennis Hingley has no known grave, the photograph available shows his name on Portsmouth Naval Memorial.
