Eustace Hillard was the third son of Frederick and Mary Hillard. His father was Headmaster of Worcester Royal Grammar School from 1899 to 1928. Eustace attended the school from 1917 to 1928. After leaving school he entered Cambridge University to study agriculture. When war broke out he enlisted in the Royal Marines and was killed in action during an air raid on Portsmouth.
