The birth of Ernest Charles Hewlett is registered in the December Quarter 1896 under the Pershore Registration District.

1901 Census, Flyford Flavel, Ernest aged 4 is at home with parents Thomas and Susan, brothers Albert aged 12 and Harold aged 6 and sister Anne aged 11.

Ernest Hewlett enlisted on 8th December 1915 and was posted to army reserve until 22nd February 1917. He was discharged on 26th July 1918 as no longer physically fit for war service and was issued with the Silver War Badge. After the war he was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.

Ernest’s army record shows that he was suffering from Tuberculosis, confirmed at Worcester on 6th February 1922. He died on 5th March 1922.
