Leonard Herbert was born on 28th May 1914.  He entered Form IIb at Kings Norton Boys School on 8th September 1925 and left the school from Form Va on 24th July 1930.  His home address on the school records was given as 11 Rochester Road, Northfield.  Examinations passed: S.C. only. July 1929. Matriculation 1930.

Leonard Herbert was one of the crew of Halifax Mark II, serial number DT570,code MP-R that took off from Linton on Ouse at 1741 on 20th December 1942 on a mission to Duisburg, Germany.  The aircraft crashed near Weeze, Germany.
