Pte Frank Hemming, 9th Battalion Notts and Derby Regt, the son of Mr Thomas Hemming of Spring Lane has been killed in action on 9th August 1915 in fighting against the Turks. He was 27 and a member of the Duke of Devonshire’s household staff when he enlisted. One brother, George is serving with the Royal Scots and another, Harold is in the 2nd South Midland Brigade.
