Worcester Trooper missing:
News has been received that Trooper Henry Samuel Hassall (aged 21), of 2, Barnesway, Bath Road, Worcester, is missing in the Middle East.  The only son of Mr. and Mrs. Hassall of that address, Trooper Hassall is an old boy of St. Peter’s School and a former member of All Saints Church Choir.  Before his military service began he was employed by Messrs. Haughton Brothers, Worcester.
The report includes a photograph of Trooper Hassall.

Worcester Trooper killed:
The parents of Trooper Henry S. Hassall, of 2, Barnesway, Bath Road, Worcester, have been notified that their son, previously reported missing, was killed in the Middle East on October 24.
Trooper Hassall, who was serving in the Reconnaissance Corps, was 21 years old. Before he joined the Army last January he was employed by Messrs. Haughton Bros. He was a most popular young man in the city, being a keen and successful angler, an enthusiastic darts player, and a member of Cherry Orchard Junior P.C.  He was a member of Tything of Walstones Lodge of Oddfellows.
Trooper Hassall was an old boy of St Peter’s School, and a former member of All Saints’ Church Choir.
The report includes the same photograph of Trooper Hassall as the November report.

A letter from Henry Hassall’s father, Mr H. Hassall, 2 Barnes Way, Bath Road, Worcester, dated 24th February 1950 can be found within war records held at Worcestershire Archives requesting that his name be added to the county roll of honour.  The letter states that Trooper H.S. Hassall, 44th Regiment Reconnaissance Corps was killed at El Alamein on 24th October 1942.
