Charles Harwood was born on 4th February 1899, the son of Oliver Harwood of Aldington. He attended Badsey Council School from 1st August 1906, it is not known when he left the school. the Badsey parish magazine of April 1918 it was reported that Private C. Harwood was in hospital in Rouen with a serious abscess in his back. In May 1918 it was reported that Private Charles Harwood had died on 22nd April in Rouen and had been buried in the English Cemetery there. He had only been in France a short time. A memorial service held at Badsey on 30th April was largely attended.
