HAMPTON MAN KILLED IN SCOTLAND – GUNNER CHARLES HARTLAND
Deep sympathy will be felt with the relatives of Gunner Charles Hartland, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Hartland, of 20 Peewitt Road, Hampton, Evesham, who have been notified of his death in a Scottish Hospital on Monday, following an accident.  Gunner Hartland, who was twenty-nine years of age, was called to the Colours nine months ago and had previously served in the Home Guard.  In civil life he was a plasterer employed by Mr. T. Simpkins, building contractor, of Pershore, and was widely known and popular in the neighbourhood.  He was a member of the Hampton Working Men’s Club.  Nine years ago he married Miss Phyllis Knight, of Hampton, and they have a son aged four years and a half years, by whom, he is survived.

(Charles was the son of Alfred and Lilian Hartland (nee Cole) who were married in 1910.  Charles married Phyllis G. Knight in 1932.)
