Further Information About HARDWICK William

William Hardwick has proved difficult to research. There is no record of him on Soldiers Died in the Great War and I am unable to positively identify a birth record for him. There is a possible 1911 census entry with a William Hardwick, age 26, born Worcester residing at 8 Ashcroft Road, Worcester with his wife Frances (nee Hall). The couple had been married under one year and had no children. They may have had at least one son, the birth of an Eric W. Hardwick, mother’s maiden name Hall, is registered in the June Quarter 1913 under the Worcester registration district. William’s medal index card provides only his name, rank, service number and that he was entitled to the Victory Medal and the British War Medal.

Two photographs of Gunner W.H. Hardwick can be found in Berrow’s Worcester Journal Supplement, Saturday 17th June 1916 and Saturday 4th May 1918, available at Worcestershire Archives.
