Badsey parish magazine September 1917 reports that Private W. Hanks, Worcestershire Regiment, late of Aldington and formerly of Badsey was killed in action in France on 5th July.  He enlisted in September 1915 and had been in France for about a year.  He left a wife and child and an aged father.

A memorial service was held in Badsey for Private W. Hanks on 12th September.
