Further Information About HAILSTONE George Rupert
George Hailstone was born in 1892 in Portsmouth. He attended Bromsgrove School from 1907 to 1910. Hailstone went up to St John’s, Cambridge and was in residence there when the War broke out. He obtained a commission in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers and after service was given a staff appointment. This he resigned in order to share with his own Regiment in the advance in Palestine. As he was leading his men in the assault, he was shot through the temple.
