William Griffiths attended Worcester Royal Grammar School from 1905 to 1906.

William Griffiths enlisted in the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force in London, Ontario on 11th September 1915. On his attestation form he gave his date of birth as 23rd August 1890 in Chester, England, his occupation as a student and his next of kin as his father, William Griffiths, Eckington, Worcestershire, England. He had previously served in the Officers Training Corps. William was 5 feet 10 inches tall with dark grey eyes, brown hair and a dark complexion.

William sailed from Halifax on S.S. Lapland on 13th March 1916, arriving in England on 26th March 1916. He spent the next two months at the C.A.M.C. Training School in the UK before being posted overseas to CAMC General, Havre, France on 9th June 1916. Between 12th July and 20th July 1916 he was temporarily attached to No 7 Canadian Stationary Hospital, Havre and then posted to No 2 Canadian Field Ambulance on 21st July 1916. William was killed in action near Albert. Military Will: I leave all I own to my Brother Arthur who lives at Benson, Sask, Canada. This includes all my goods at Huron College, London, Ontario, Canada.
