Ernest Griffin was baptised on 21st March 1889 at Shelsley Beauchamp, Father: Albert Griffin, a labourer, Mother: Emma (Emily), resident Shelsley. Albert John Griffin was born in 1851 in Hallow, he died in Worcester in 1894. He married Emily (Emma) Collins (born in 1854 in Oxford) on 25th July 1882 in Martley. He was 31 years old, a bachelor, employed as a labourer, his father was Harvey Griffin, a Carrier. Emily Collins was a spinster aged 26 when they married, her father was James Collins, a labourer. The marriage was witnessed by George Lewis and Jane Griffin.
Ernest Griffin had one half sister, Ellen E. Collins who was born in 1874 in Winson Green, Birmingham. His brothers and sisters were: Mary Jane Griffin born in 1882 in Martley; Annie Griffin born in 1885 in Martley and Harvey Griffin born in 1892 in Astley.
