Thomas Green was the second son of Mrs Green of 92 Dudley Road, Lye, whose three sons died in the Great War. He was an enameller working for Messrs Eveson Bros. in Lye. He lived at 51 Careless Green with his wife and three children. He enlisted in the Worcesters and joined the 4th Battalion on the Western Front. They fought through the Somme in 1916, in the Arras and Cambrai battles in 1917 and endured the 1918 German Spring offensives in Flanders. In August the Worcesters were in the Lys Valley and helped in the advance over the Outtersterne Ridge on the 18th August. Corporal Thomas Green was wounded in this advance and died of wounds on the 22nd August 1918. His brother Clifford was killed on the 19th October 1915 and his brother John on the 25th January 1917.
