The 1st/7th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment was a Territorial Force battalion, part of the 144th (Gloucester and Worcester) Brigade, 48th (South Midland) Division. During 1917 the brigade was involved in following up the German Retreat to the Hindenburg Line, when the Division occupied Peronne. Peronne is a large town within the general area of the Somme battlefield. There is no information to indicate when or where Alfred Gordon was killed.
