Edward Giles was one of 15 children of Edwin and Sophia Giles, 10 were still alive in 1911 and 5 had died. Only 3 were still living with their parents in 1911 (Albert) Mark aged 17, Kate aged 15 and Frederick aged 14.

Sophia Giles died on the 4th November 1918 aged 64 and was buried in Pershore Cemetery.

Edward’s younger sister Kate was born on the 30th September 1895. In 1915 she married John Gould in Pershore and by 1939 the couple were living at 6 Head Street, Pershore. There are 3 residents at the address, the 3rd entry marked as ‘This record is officially closed’ – Kate and John adopted a son, George, and the closed record is to comply with privacy regulations that prevent the publishing of anyone born less than 100 years and may still be alive. George was born in 1933 to Sarah Jane Jenkins and he was adopted by Kate and John in 1935. George passed away on the 3rd January 2023.
