Further Information About FINCHER Albert

Albert Fincher was the son of William and Mary (nee Pugh) Fincher, who married in Crowle Church on 27th October 1886. He was a devout Christian and worshipped regularly at the Sale Green Mission Hall where he taught those attending the Sunday School.

On 1st February 1919, his mother received a letter from the Worcestershire Regimental Comforts Fund in which Private A. Noble, 2nd Worcestershire Regiment in a report made to the Red Cross stated:
“I saw him die of wounds, he only lived a short time after being very badly hit all over at Bullecourt on May 20th 1917”.

A photograph of Signaller A. Fincher of Crowle can be found in Berrow’s Worcester Journal Supplement, Saturday 16th June 1917, available at Worcestershire Archives. Photographs of his three brothers also appear in the same supplement. A different photograph of Signaller A. Fincher of Crowle can be found in Berrow’s Worcester Journal Supplement, Saturday 13th April 1918.

Albert Fincher has no known grave, the photograph available shows his name on Arras Memorial.
