Robert Alfred Fickling was born at Bromsgrove in 1897, the son of Alfred and Emily Fickling, 128, Worcester Street, Bromsgrove.

Private Robert Fickling, Worcestershire Regiment (T.F.), son of Mr and Mrs Alfred Fickling,128, Worcester Street, Bromsgrove, is reported as killed in action on December 4th. The deceased soldier was nearly 21 years of age and he mobilised with the Territorial Forces at the outbreak of war in August 1914. Before that date he was employed by Messrs J and A Brazier of Bromsgrove and prior to that occupation he worked for the British and Argentine Meat Company at their Bromsgrove Branch. A little over twelve months ago the deceased suffered from trench feet and was invalided home but he recovered and went out again in May last.
