Appears in the Worcester/Worcestershire Roll of Honour Book for army casualties located in Worcester Cathedral under Stoulton casualties.

Daniel Ewins enlisted in the 14th Labour Battalion Devonshire Regiment in Worcester on the 1st September 1916.  On his attestation paper he gave his age as 34 years, his occupation as a labourer, his address as Wadborough, Worcestershire and his next of kin as his sister, Clara Ewins, also of Wadborough.  Daniel was 5 feet 9 inches tall.

Daniel’s service records give no details of his parents, he has a younger brother, Private F.S. Ewins, age 32, serving with the Royal Army Veterinary Corps (21495) and his sister Clara C. Ewins age 28.  In April 1917 Daniel spent several weeks in hospital in France suffering from bronchitis and pleurisy.  On 28th April whilst still in hospital he was transferred to the 155th Company Labour Corps.  He was discharged in May and proceeded to join his unit on 31st May 1917.  Three months later, Daniel was killed in action.
