Further Information About ESTILL Douglas
Douglas Estill was born in 1889, the son of Mr Estill of Johannesburg. He attended Bromsgrove School from 1903 to 1905, entering the school as a scholar with the promise to gain distinction at University. Circumstances necessitated his leaving prematurely and he returned to South Africa where he was for a time in the Civil Service and afterwards in business. He came home as a Private in the South African Contingent and after training in various centres in England and a brief visit to Egypt, he went to France. He was killed in the magnificent stand made by the South Africans in Delville Wood.
