Albert Edwards was born in Alfrick, Worcestershire in 1898. He enlisted for the duration of the war as a Driver in the 3rd/2nd South Midland Brigade, Royal Field Artillery on 1st June 1915 at Worcester, Service No 3370, changed to 831278. Albert lived at Long House, Alfrick near Worcester, he gave his age as 19 years and 2 months and his occupation as a Labourer. He was 6 feet 3 inches tall and gave his next of kin as his mother, Clara Higginson, Long House, Alfrick near Worcester. This was amended to his father, James Higginson of the same address. Albert was discharged from the army on 22nd March 1919 having seen action in France and Italy.
