The following report appears in the Upton News 27th October 1917:
Cpl. Davis Killed
News has been received by his mother, Mrs Davis of Court Street, that her son, Cpl. W. Davis, of the Worcestershire Regiment, has been killed in action. Cpl. Davis, prior to the war, was a gardener on the Ham Court Estate, and was a young man very highly regarded by all who knew him. He was a member of the Upton Working Men’s Club and of the Worcestershire Territorials before the world’s calamity overtook mankind.
William Davis has no known grave, the photograph available shows his name on Tyne Cot Memorial.
