Albert Davies was born at Knighton on Teme on the 4th August 1888, the son of John Sidney and Emma Davies. John was a Publican, the nature of his employment meant the family lived in a variety of places.

By 1911 Albert was living on ‘Private Means’ as a boarder in Harlesden, northwest London. In 1912 he married Ellen Crook and the couple had two children, Ellen Louisa born 2nd October 1913 and Albert Sydney, born 7th April 1916.
On the 26th April 1916 Albert enlisted as an Acting Corporal, service no 27027, with the Royal Flying Corps for the duration of the war. He was promoted to Corporal Mechanic on the 1st March 1918 before being discharged on an unknown date after contracting tuberculosis. He died on the 28th January 1919. From the 18th July 1919 Ellen, resident at 3 Rucklidge Avenue, Harlesden N.W. was awarded a pension payment for herself and her two children, backdated to the 29th January 1919.
