Mervyn David was born on 20th April 1917, the twin brother of Raymond David who was also killed during World War 2.  He entered Form IIc at Kings Norton Boys School on 11th September 1928 and left the school from Form Vb on 28th July 1933.  Examinations passed: School Certificate July 1933.  His home address on the school records was given as 45 Dawberry Road, Pineapple Estate, this was later amended to 134 Yarningale Road, Kings Heath.

Mervyn David has no known grave, the photograph available shows his name on Runnymede Memorial.
