Albert Daffurn sailed from Liverpool, England on the S.S. Corsican and arrived at Halifax, Novia Scotia on 14th April 1912. His intended occupation in Canada was to be a farm labourer.

Albert enlisted in the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force on 25th August 1914 in Ottawa, Canada, being passed medically fit on 2nd September 1914 at Louis(?) Camp, Quebec. On his attestation form he gave his date of birth as 22nd September 1874 in Broadway, Worcestershire, his occupation as a Groom and his next of kin as his wife, Bessie Daffurn, of Broadway, Worcestershire. He had previous military service with the Rifle Brigade. Albert was 5 feet 8 inches tall with hazel eyes, brown hair and a fresh complexion.
