Further Information About CUBBERLEY Frederick Norton
Frederick Cubberley enlisted in the Worcestershire Regiment at Worcester on 25th February 1901 for a period of 12 years service. On his attestation paper he gave his age as 14 years and his place of birth as Kempsey, Worcester. He was 4 feet 5 inches tall with a fresh complexion, blue eyes and brown hair. In December 1912, he re-engaged at Tidworth with the Worcestershire Regiment for ‘such period as shall complete 21 yrs service with the colours’. He was commissioned Sergeant on the 8th August 1914 and posted overseas with the British Expeditionary Force on 12th August 1914. On 26th February 1916 Frederick married Ethel Mary Murray at St Georges Catholic Chapel, Worcester. He was killed in action on 1st June 1916.
