Whilst attached to the 1st Worcesters, Charles Corbett was wounded in the arm at Neuve Chapelle and invalided home, being sent to Manchester and Holyhead and afterwards coming home for a fortnight. He returned to Plymouth and later set sail for the Dardanelles where he was killed by bullet passing through his neck on 27th June. He has four brothers serving: Sergeant H.W. Corbett, 17th Lancers, who served through the South African War and has been in France since October. Alf Corbett “Unattached”, went to France with a private motor ambulance to help the wounded with the British Red Cross. Corporal J.J. Corbett, shoeing-smith with the Royal Engineers. Private B.F. Corbett, 2nd Worcesters, badly wounded in the retreat from Mons and taken prisoner, now at Merseburg.
