Hebden Stringer Constantine was the only child of Councillor Arthur B. Constantine, 18 Lichfield Street, Stourport.  He joined the army soon after the beginning of the war and fifteen months later received a commission.  He was first sent to Egypt and was sent home invalided, then went to France in August 1916 and was severely wounded on the 8th May 1917, while on outpost duty.  Later he succumbed to his injuries at a hospital. Hebden had a promising career ahead of him, being a student in chemistry at the London University.  He is recorded on the headstone of his father (who died in 1931) grave D38, Stourport Churchyard.
