William Cole’s gravestone has been inscribed as W.T. Cole Billum.  An enquiry raised with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission has revealed that the word ‘Billum’ on the headstone was requested by his parents and may reflect either a nickname or how he was known to his loved ones.
