SS Asperity was a coastal tanker. Whilst on passage from London to Hull she was torpedoed and sunk by a German E-Boat north Eats of Cromer, Norfolk.
A letter from the Reverend W.A. Trippass, St Nicholas, Droitwich dated 23rd May 1950 can be found within war records held at Worcestershire Archives requesting that Edward George Cogger be added to the county roll of honour.

Edward Cogger had served in the Army in the Great War and prior to his death he had served in the Merchant Navy for 11 years. He was the husband of Lavinia Cogger and the couple lived at 23 Albert Street, Droitwich.
Edward Cogger has no known grave, the photograph available shows his name on Tower Hill Memorial.
