Further Information About CLARK John
Surname spelt Clarke on Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
Jack Clark lived at 3 Duncombe Street, Wollaston, and attended St. James’s School. He volunteered for service in the local Territorials and enlisted in the 1st/7th Battalion. They crossed the Channel on 31st March and entrained for Flanders. They were then stationed near Ploegsteert Wood on a relatively quiet sector of the front. There was constant activity, however, in the trenches and raids and shellfire took a steady toll of casualties. Private Jack Clark was one of the battalion’s first casualties.
