There is no record of this casualty on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission or Soldiers Died in the Great War.

The birth of Clarence Victor Chance is registered in the March Quarter 1896 under the Stourbridge Registration District.  He was baptised on 18th November 1897, the son of George Abraham and Minnie Chance of Stamber Mill, Worcestershire.

Clarence Chance enlisted in the army on 12th November 1915 at Stourbridge when he gave his age as 19 years and 8 months.  He remained in England until 21st December 1916 when he was posted overseas to France.

On an army medical report dated 18th July 1918 Clarence stated that he was attacked in a dugout in France in 1917 following which he was removed to Rouen and then to the 2nd Western General Hospital in Manchester.  The cause of his disability during the examination is given as rheumatism with pains in his knees and shoulders and shortness of breath on exertion.  The medical board decided that his disability was not permanent and he should be re-examined in 6 months.  Clarence was discharged from the army on 14th December 1918.

The death of Clarence V. Chance aged 65 is registered in the December Quarter 1961 under the Weston-Super-Mare Registration District.
