ALVECHURCH DESPATCH RIDER’S DEATH
FATAL CRASH IN KENT
The funeral took place at Alvechurch on Thursday in last week of Private Harry Busby (21), only son of Mr and Mrs H. Busby, Coopers Hill Farm, who was killed on May 13th, while acting as a despatch rider in Kent. He collided with another despatch rider from the same platoon, and died in hospital while undergoing an operation. Pte. Busby was a member of Bromsgrove Territorials for two years prior to the war, and assisted his grandfather on the farm.
The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. G.J. Hodgins (Rector), and among those attending was the Chief Constable of Worcester City, Mr E.W. Tinkler, representing his son, who was the deceased’s platoon commander. The report includes a photograph of Harry Busby.
