Further Information About BUSBY Clive

Awarded Conspicuous Gallantry Medal (C.G.M.)

Appears on the Royal Air Force casualties list for Worcestershire.

Another flyer who was lost soon after receiving the CGM was Warrant Officer Clive Camden Busby of 156 Squadron, operating with Avro Lancasters. He failed to return from a mission on 16th June 1943 and is buried in Rheinberg War Cemetery. He was twenty-two years old and his parents came from Ceylon.

He was recommended for his CGM on 21st May 1943, after completing fifty-three raids against all major targets, the last five while being with the Pathfinder Force. Sadly he was dead before his award was gazetted.

A letter from Rector Howard S. Bailey, The Rectory, Upton on Severn dated 20th May 1950 can be found within war records held at Worcestershire Archives requesting that Warrant Officer Clive Busby, RAF, C.G.M, be added to the county roll of honour.
