Appears in the Worcester/Worcestershire Roll of Honour Book for army casualties located in Worcester Cathedral.

Andrew Brace was born in the parish of St Andrews, Worcester.  He enlisted in the Worcestershire Regiment on 9th March 1904 in Worcester when he gave his age as 18 years 7 months and his occupation as a labourer.  He was 5 feet 7 inches tall with a fresh complexion, brown eyes and dark brown hair.  During his army career he served in Ireland, India and South Africa.  On 9th March 1912, at the end of his term of service, Andrew was transferred to the Army Reserve.  When war broke Andrew was immediately mobilised and shortly afterwards sent overseas to France.  He was wounded in action at Gheluvelt on 31st October 1914 and subsequently posted as wounded and missing on that date, this was later amended to died on or since 31st October 1914.  In 1919, an army form completed by Andrew’s mother, Sarah, name his living relatives as 3 full blood brothers and 4 full blood sisters: William aged 43, Charles aged 39, Edward aged 37, Eliza Dowding aged 41, Sarah Whilesmith aged 25, Beatrice Jukes aged 26 and Lily Brace aged 22.
