BOULD William Henry

William Henry Bould was born on 9th August 1889 in Redditch, Worcestershire. He lived at 20 Prospect Road, Redditch when he was appointed as Police Constable No 10, Worcester Constabulary on 1st April 1914. He was single and his trade was given as a Plater. He was discharged from the 2nd Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment, Private No 10414 on 1st March 1914 after 7 years service but remained in the army reserve.  William was 5 feet 8¾ inches tall, weighed 10 stone 6lbs, his chest measurement was 36 inches and he had a fresh complexion with brown eyes and brown hair. He spent 124 days with the constabulary as a Constable 3rd Class working at Police Headquarters in Worcester until 18th June 1914 and then at Droitwich police station from 19th June 1914 until 5th August 1914. On 3rd June 1914 at Police Headquarters he was charged with being drunk and unfit for duty and was fined 3 days pay with a forfeit of 3 days leave. He rejoined the Worcestershire Regiment on 6th August 1914.

The following information has been researched and transcribed by Jillian Coombes:
On the 1901 census William Henry Bould, aged 11, pauper at Bromsgrove, Union Workhouse. On the 1911 census he was a private in 2nd Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment and was stationed in India.

Birmingham Daily Post, Friday 12th May 1916:
Official Information has been received of the death of Pte W. Bould, Worcs. R. Bould’s home was at Prospect Road, Redditch. He was a member of the Worcestershire Constabulary, and was last stationed at Droitwich.
