Dennis Beresford attended Worcester Royal Grammar School from 1935 to 1940. In February 1943 he enlisted in the Royal Air Force and was posted to Bomber Command. In September 1944, after qualifying as a Wireless Operator, Dennis was sent to Foggia Main in Italy where he joined 40 Squadron. On 13th October 1944 Dennis and his fellow crew members took off in their Wellington bomber as part of a 10 aircraft raid on the railway marshalling yard at Szekesfehervar, Hungary. Dennis’s Wellington was 1 of 2 aircraft shot down during the raid.
