Further Information About BAYNHAM Godfrey Robert
The birth of Godfrey Baynham is registered in the December Quarter 1899 under the Tenbury Registration District. The death of Robert G. Baynham aged 20 is registered in the December Quarter 1919 under the Worcester Registration District.
Godfrey enlisted in the 95th Training Reserve Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment as Godfrey Robert Baynham on 20th November 1917 at Worcester. On his attestation form he gave his age as 18 years, his address as Boat House, Knightwick near Worcester and his occupation as a farm labourer. His next of kin was his father Thomas Baynham of the same address. He remained on home service until 15th May 1918 when he was posted overseas to France. He was wounded in action on 8th July 1918 and again on 27th September 1918 when he was admitted to hospital for a gunshot wound to his left leg leading to his transportation back to the UK on 1st October 1918. Godfrey was discharged from the army on 25th February 1919.
Although I have listed the death registration for a Robert G. Baynham in Worcester in 1919, this may not be related to this casualty. The reason I am unsure is that G.R. Baynham signed the form for the receipt of his British War Medal and Victory Medal on 23rd May 1921. However I have been unable to find any further death registrations for a Robert or Godfrey Bayham.
