The birth of Gerald P. Baylis is registered in the March Quarter 1921 under the Bromsgrove Registration District, mother’s maiden name: Bunce.
The Royal Australian Air Force Squadrons 460, 463 and 467 operated a number of RAF Lancasters from 1942. RAF Lancaster JB121 operating under 467 Squadron had flown 9 previous missions. On the night of the 3rd/4th November 1943 the 467 Squadron crew piloted by Squadron Leader Lewis, DFC, were flying the aircraft on its 10th sortie. The target was Dusseldorf in Germany, however the aircraft and its entire crew was lost in the vicinity of Antwerp.
