Percy Banford was born on 12th February 1895 in Guarlford. He enlisted in the Worcestershire Regiment on 2nd December 1913 at Malvern when his age was given as 18 years 9 months. He was 5 feet 2½ tall, employed as a Porter and his next of kin was his father, resident at 2 Lorne Villa, Upper Chase Road, Great Malvern. Percy arrived in France on 1st April 1915, he was admitted to hospital on 16th December 1916 and transferred to England on 29th December 1916. He was found permanently unfit for further service due to nervous debility by a medical board held on 7th August 1917 and posted to Command Depot at Sutton Coldfield in 1918. Percy was disembodied on demobilisation on 11th February 1919. He was awarded the Victory Medal, the British War Medal and the 1915 Star. The death of Percival Edgar Banford is registered in the September Quarter 1972 under the Worcester Registration District.
