Cedric Monroe Ballinger was born on 5th May 1918 in Ombersley, the son of Ernest Ballinger of Ombersley and his wife Eliza (nee Vaughan, of Nechells Aston, Warwickshire). He was baptised on 8th April 1923 at Doverdale Church, aged 5. In 1915, Ernest’s war record states the family were living at Winnal Cottage, Lincomb, Stourport-on-Severn, Worcestershire.
