Further Information About BALL William Isaac

William Ball stated he was 22 years of age when he enlisted as Private 27278 in the Worcestershire Regiment on 8th December 1915.  He was placed on the army reserve on 9th December and continued in his employment as a postman.  William was 5 feet 5½ inches tall and he gave his next of kin as his mother, Myra Ball, Newlands, Pershore, Worcestershire.  In the December Quarter 1915 he married Frances M. Watkins in the Bromyard Registration District.  William was mobilised on 2nd February 1916 at Worcester and on 20th June 1916 he was appointed as an unpaid Lance Corporal.  He was posted overseas to France on 28th July 1916 and sometime in February/March 1917 he was wounded.

William was discharged from the army on 13th March 1919 and returned home to Cheyney Court, Bishops Frome.  He was awarded the British War Medal, the Victory Medal, three blue chevrons and two wound stripes.

The death of William I. Ball aged 74 is registered in the December Quarter 1967 under the Malvern Registration District.
