Further Information About BAILEY Arthur
Soldiers Died in the Great War and the medal index card for this casualty record him as Bombardier Arthur Bailey, service no 86626. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission record him as Bombardier Alf Booth, service no 86626. This information has been transcribed from their grave registration documents which record him as ‘Bailey alias Booth’ – this has been crossed through and the name Booth written in its place. His first name is still shown as Arthur; there is no indication as to why it has been changed to Alf on the CWGC database, the plausible reason being an error by the transcriber when the database records were being collated. The contact details for the grave are shown as: Mr J.R. Booth, Selsey Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham.
